OCTOBER results are in! A big thank you to our judge, Bob Carroll.

Covered the World Championship fight Ali V Frazier in Manila, everything and anything else that happened in Asia until, 1977 when I returned to Canada to put together United Press Canada, where I hired and trained those photogs and more listed below.

Took the pix ed job in Windsor in 2000, retired in 2007, after 45 years of beating myself up in the news business. "

COMMENTS:
Just over 75-pix, 5-categories.

Two news pix from John Hanley (TorSun work) and one basketball practice shot from Sarah Dea were the best of the bunch.

Don't know what Sarah Hawkins pix of the two urinals had to do with her multiple pix. Don't think it should have been in. Has nothing to do with any story. This factory screamed for more pix, maybe something was missed in the edit.

As a media photographer you would have to live off Feature pictures, yet only 8 were entered. Features are everywhere, and at a paper they are required everyday as "fillers". More feature pix needed. Try harder..... These pix are everywhere.

PP category went to a youngster playing park basketball. The crop made the "feeling" to this Portrait.

Sports, was a decent group of pictures. Proves that not always action wins. Unless of course it is a Sports Action category. You don't have to have an "action" photo as in hockey / football to win Sports.

Thats it for this edit. Remember, get out there a "make" more pictures, they're everywhere. In all kinds of light, use the light. Use the camera, and those special effects it gives you like flash after, slow speed pan, etc.....

Thank you,

Bob
